We will have two featured poets and an open mic
   at the December 12, 2017 Frost Hoot.
    (at Cafe Azteca, 7pm--9pm ,
     180 Common St, Lawrence, MA 01840)

Here are the bios of the featured readers:

Gayle C. Heney is a former North Andover 2-term Poet Laureate.
She is the award winning producer and host of the TV series
Write Now. She is the editor of the poetry anthology Songs
from the Castle’s Remains and Lois Sargent’s Leaf Sorrow
Tree Strong, which will be published by early 2018. Her poems
have appeared in Moments Falling Open, MethuenLife, The
Underground Movement, and Northern Essex Community College’s
Peace Poetry Contest chapbooks. Gayle Heney has taught poetry
at the Peabody Essex Museum, libraries, senior centers,
schools, Essex Art Center, Rolling Ridge Conference Center,
 Salem Arts Festivals, retirement communities,
  Cape Ann Museum and MA Poetry’s Student Day of Poetry.


A native of Lexington, Kentucky, Joy Gonsalves
earned a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry from the
University of Florida and spent the first few years
of her career teaching Introduction to Literature,
Poetry, and Composition at various schools and universities,
including our own Northern Essex.  She is the recipient of
an Individual Artist Grant from the KY Foundation for Women,
a Walker Scholarship from the Fine Arts Work Center in
Provincetown, and a Cave Canem (pronounced KAH-ve KAH-nem)
felllowship.  Her poems have appeared in Verse, Mosaic,
The Independent, Crab Orchard Review, and other journals.
A wife and mother of three children, Joy currently
homeschools her two youngest.  She will be reading
from a series of poems inspired by her childhood,
 which is the setting for her first (and forthcoming)
  full-length collection. 


Remaining time will be divided for the open mic quantity,
   and we will be trying out a timer to assure that
   run-ons don't wipe out our time for announcements.
